The Prime Window
The prime diving window offers 25-30 metre visibility, calm seas, and the highest probability of manta ray encounters. Most luxury vessels operate at full capacity — advance booking essential.
November through February is peak-of-peak: calmest conditions, best visibility, and manta season at its height. March-April remains excellent with slightly fewer crowds.

Season Questions
November through February offers the best overall conditions — calmest seas, 25-30m visibility, warmest water, and peak manta season. January-February specifically combines excellent diving with post-holiday price drops. For value seekers, May and September offer great conditions with fewer crowds and 20-30% lower prices.
Yes. Diving is available every month. October-April is peak season with the best conditions across all regions. May-September brings stronger winds affecting northern sites, but southern Misool remains excellent and often offers the best visibility of the year (30m+). Experienced divers find the off-season rewarding for pelagic encounters.
Peak season (Oct-Apr): 25-30m, sometimes exceeding 40m. Shoulder (May, Sep): 20-25m. Off-season (Jun-Aug): 15-20m in the north, but 25-30m+ in sheltered Misool. Visibility varies by site, tide, and recent weather. Your dive master monitors conditions daily and selects optimal sites.
Absolutely — drysuits are unnecessary. Surface water is 28-30°C year-round. Thermoclines can drop to 24-26°C at depth during July-August. A 3mm wetsuit is standard for most divers; 5mm recommended for deeper dives or cold-sensitive guests. July-August are the coolest months but still warmer than most tropical dive destinations.
Open Water certification accesses 60% of popular sites. Advanced Open Water is recommended for current-heavy sites like Blue Magic and Cape Kri (50+ logged dives ideal). Some sites are suitable for all levels — Manta Sandy, Chicken Reef, and Melissa's Garden are accessible to Open Water divers. Nitrox certification extends bottom time significantly.
