Premium Diving Expeditions 2025-2026
Total immersion in Earth's most biodiverse marine ecosystem. Wake to pristine reefs, dive world-class sites before other boats arrive, and explore remote corners of the archipelago accessible only to vessels carrying their own accommodation.
The Definitive Way to Dive
Raja Ampat's geography demands mobility. The greatest dive sites are scattered across vast distances — from Cape Kri in Dampier Strait to the remote reefs of Misool, from Wayag's northern karst formations to Penemu's hidden lagoons. A liveaboard eliminates daily transit from fixed bases, positioning you at dive sites during optimal conditions.
Beyond diving efficiency, liveaboard life delivers an atmosphere of expedition camaraderie impossible to replicate. Shared meals reviewing the day's encounters. Evening briefings building anticipation for tomorrow's sites. The gentle rock of anchor in sheltered bays as southern hemisphere stars rotate overhead.

Secure Your Berth
Peak season berths on popular vessels sell out 12-18 months in advance. We maintain allocation on premier vessels and can often secure cabins when operators show fully booked through direct channels. Our advisory service includes vessel matching based on your dive experience, comfort requirements, group dynamics, and budget — ensuring your liveaboard selection delivers exactly the experience you envision.
Common Questions
Most liveaboards require a minimum of Open Water certification, though Advanced Open Water is recommended for Raja Ampat's current-rich sites. Some vessels offer refresher courses and advanced certification during the trip. If you have fewer than 50 logged dives, we recommend vessels with experienced guides who can provide additional support at challenging sites like Blue Magic and Cape Kri.
A liveaboard sells individual berths on scheduled departures with fixed itineraries — you share the vessel with other guests (typically 10-24 divers). A private charter provides exclusive use of the entire vessel with a fully customizable itinerary. Liveaboards are more affordable per person; charters offer complete privacy and flexibility. Both access the same dive sites.
Yes, most liveaboards welcome snorkelers and non-diving companions. Raja Ampat's shallow reefs offer extraordinary snorkeling directly from the vessel or tender boats. Non-divers can also enjoy island hiking, kayaking, village visits, and wildlife watching while divers are underwater. Some boutique vessels are better suited for mixed groups — ask us for recommendations.
Essential items: dive certification card and logbook, personal dive computer, reef-safe sunscreen, lightweight clothing, underwater camera, and any personal medications. Most vessels provide towels, toiletries, and basic dive equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit). Bring your own mask and wetsuit for best fit. Pack light — cabin storage is limited. We provide a detailed packing list upon booking.
Raja Ampat's sheltered geography means diving is rarely cancelled entirely. Strong winds may redirect the vessel to protected sites — captains and dive masters know hundreds of alternative locations. Truly severe weather (rare during season) may result in island excursions, snorkeling in sheltered bays, or cultural visits instead. Reputable operators have flexible itineraries designed to maximize diving regardless of conditions.
Most mid-range and all premium/ultra-luxury liveaboards offer nitrox (EANx32 or EANx36). Some include it in the trip price; others charge $100-$200 for the week. Nitrox certification is required — if you don't have it, several vessels offer onboard certification courses. We recommend nitrox for Raja Ampat due to the repetitive multi-dive days and relatively shallow reef profiles.
