Raja Ampat's manta ray season draws divers and snorkelers from around the world to witness one of nature's most majestic spectacles. The region hosts both reef mantas (Mobula alfredi) and the giant oceanic manta ray (Mobula birostris), with encounters possible year-round but peaking during specific months depending on location.

Dampier Strait (North): November to April — the primary manta season. Nutrient-rich waters attract large aggregations to cleaning stations like Manta Sandy and Arborek Jetty. This is when most divers plan their trips.

Misool (South): June to September — southern Raja Ampat sees manta activity during the opposite season, meaning dedicated manta seekers can find encounters year-round by choosing the right itinerary.
