What to Pack for a Raja Ampat Luxury Cruise

Packing for a Raja Ampat cruise is simpler than you’d think—life aboard is relaxed and casual, and most equipment is provided. Here’s your essential packing guide based on years of guest feedback.

Essential Items

Sun protection: High-SPF reef-safe sunscreen (mandatory for marine park), UPF rashguard for snorkeling, wide-brim hat, quality sunglasses with strap.

Clothing: Light, breathable casual wear. No formal attire needed. Quick-dry fabrics preferred. Lightweight rain jacket for occasional showers.

Footwear: Reef shoes or water sandals (essential), flip-flops for the vessel, sturdy shoes for Wayag/Pianemo treks.

Medications: Seasickness remedies (even mild), personal prescriptions, insect repellent for shore visits. Basic first aid is available onboard.

Diving/Snorkeling Gear

Full equipment is provided on all luxury vessels. However, serious divers often bring their own: dive computer, mask (fitted), regulator, and 3-5mm wetsuit. Water temperature 27-30°C year-round.

Photography

Underwater camera housing, extra batteries and memory cards (no shops in Raja Ampat), dry bag for boat transfers, drone (check current regulations). Camera rooms with charging stations on premium vessels.

What NOT to Pack

Heavy luggage (transfers involve small boats), non-reef-safe sunscreen (banned in marine park), excessive valuables (cabins have safes), formal wear (unnecessary).
