The best Raja Ampat liveaboards for 2027 are Dewi Nusantara for dive-first voyages, Prana by Atzaro and Lamima for private whole-vessel charters, Amandira for small-group Aman polish, and Aqua Blu for expedition cruising, with Gaia Love, Coralia and Rascal close behind. Whole-vessel charters start around USD 4,500 per night, departing Sorong between October and April.
Updated for the 2027 Season: How We Ranked These Boats
Most liveaboard roundups are written by people who have never stood on a Sorong jetty at 6am counting dive tanks onto a tender. We have. Luxury Raja Ampat has arranged more than 800 private voyages through the archipelago since 2015, for guests from more than 45 countries, and we spend every season aboard, alongside, or in radio contact with the vessels below. That gives us a useful, slightly uncomfortable vantage point for a comparison like this one.
A disclosure before the ranking: five of the eight vessels profiled here — Lamima, Prana by Atzaro, Amandira, Dewi Nusantara and Rascal — are available through Luxury Raja Ampat. Three of them — Aqua Blu, Gaia Love and Coralia — are not. We have ranked all eight on merit anyway, because a roundup that only praises its own fleet is a brochure, not a comparison, and because the boats we cannot sell are genuinely excellent at what they do.
The method is simple. Every vessel listed is confirmed as operating Raja Ampat itineraries into the 2027 season. We then weigh build and upkeep, dive and guiding standards, cabin quality and count, crew ratio, and — the factor most lists ignore — whether the booking model actually suits the traveller reading this. A superb per-cabin dive boat is the wrong answer for a family of ten, and a nine-suite private phinisi is the wrong answer for a solo underwater photographer.
The 2027 Raja Ampat Liveaboard Comparison Table
| Rank | Vessel | Style | Cabins | Dive spec | Booking model | From-price band | One-line verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dewi Nusantara | 57m three-masted schooner | 9 (1 Master Suite + 8 Deluxe Staterooms, 18 guests) | Full dive programme; Raja Ampat Oct–Mar | Per-cabin departures; whole-vessel charters available through Luxury Raja Ampat | USD 6,000–9,000/night, whole vessel | The benchmark Raja Ampat dive liveaboard — she sells out first for a reason. |
| 2 | Prana by Atzaro | 55m nine-suite phinisi | 9 suites (18 guests) | Dive platform, nitrox, dedicated dive team | Whole vessel only, minimum 5 nights — available through Luxury Raja Ampat | USD 9,000–12,000+/night | The most complete private charter afloat in Raja Ampat for 2027. |
| 3 | Lamima | 65m sailing phinisi | 7 staterooms (1 master + 6 guest) | Guided diving run from the yacht | Whole vessel; Sorong-based for Raja Ampat Nov–May — available through Luxury Raja Ampat | USD 9,000–12,000+/night | The romantic’s choice — nothing else this size actually sails. |
| 4 | Aqua Blu | 60m explorer yacht | 15 suites across five decks | Dive and expedition programme; new South Raja Ampat route from Dec 2026 | Per-suite expedition cruise — book direct or via agents (not sold by us) | On application, per suite | The expedition-ship option: more ship, less sail, superb range. |
| 5 | Amandira | Aman sailing phinisi | 5 (3 king cabins + 2 bunk cabins, 10 guests) | Diving woven into charter itineraries; 14 crew for 10 guests | Whole vessel, minimum 5 nights in Raja Ampat — available through Luxury Raja Ampat | USD 8,000–12,000/night | Aman polish in open water — the two-family charter, perfected. |
| 6 | Gaia Love | Modern purpose-built dive liveaboard | 11 (6 balcony cabins upper deck, 22 guests) | Dive-first, 8–12 night Raja Ampat itineraries Nov–May | Per-cabin — book direct or via dive agents (not sold by us) | On application, per cabin | The best modern dive platform if character matters less than comfort. |
| 7 | Coralia | Boutique phinisi liveaboard | 8 (16 guests, incl. 2 Master Cabins) | Dive-focused; Raja Ampat plus Banda Sea and Halmahera routes | Per-cabin — book direct or via dive agents (not sold by us) | On application, per cabin | The boutique dive boat repeat divers quietly rebook. |
| 8 | Rascal | 5-cabin modern phinisi | 5, all above deck (10 guests) | Diving and snorkelling by arrangement | Whole vessel, Raja Ampat Nov–Apr, minimum 5 nights — available through Luxury Raja Ampat | USD 4,500–7,000/night | The smartest entry point into whole-boat luxury. |
Price bands are indicative whole-vessel rates for the 2027 Raja Ampat season and move with dates, itinerary and fuel; per-cabin boats publish their own schedules. We quote whole-vessel pricing only — it is the honest number, because it is the total number.
The Best Whole-Vessel Charters in Raja Ampat for 2027
If your group fills the boat, charter the boat. These four run Raja Ampat as private vessels: your route through Wayag, Misool or the Dampier Strait, your wake-up time, your dive schedule.
Prana by Atzaro — the showpiece
Nine suites over 55 metres, a crew that outnumbers guests, a spa, a yoga deck and a proper dive platform with nitrox. Prana runs Raja Ampat from December to April on five-night minimum charters, and she is the boat we place guests on when the brief is simply the best. Verdict: if budget bends, Prana does not.
Lamima — the sailing purist’s choice
At 65 metres, Lamima is a genuine sailing phinisi, not a motor yacht in costume. She bases out of Sorong for Raja Ampat between November and May, carries seven staterooms, and delivers the single image every guest remembers: full canvas against the karsts of Kabui Bay. Verdict: choose Lamima when the voyage matters as much as the destination.
Amandira — Aman polish for small groups
Aman’s sailing phinisi takes just ten guests in five cabins — three kings and two bunk rooms that children argue over — with fourteen crew and a five-night Raja Ampat minimum. The service style is exactly what Aman devotees expect, transplanted onto open water. Verdict: the definitive two-family charter.
Rascal — the compact modern charter
Rascal puts all five cabins above deck, so nobody draws the short straw of a porthole below the waterline. She runs Raja Ampat November to April and is the vessel we recommend when a group of eight to ten wants the whole-boat experience without the flagship invoice. Verdict: the smartest first charter you can book.
The Best Dive-First Liveaboards for 2027
These three exist to put you on Blue Magic at slack tide with a guide who has dived it a thousand times. Book them per cabin, on their schedule, and let the dive deck run your day.
Dewi Nusantara — the icon
A 57-metre, three-masted schooner with nine cabins for eighteen guests, including a 46-square-metre Master Suite that has no rival on any dive boat in Indonesia. Her Raja Ampat season runs October to March, and her crew’s site knowledge — Cape Kri, Manta Sandy, Boo Windows — is generational. Available for whole-vessel charter through Luxury Raja Ampat; her per-cabin departures sell out roughly a year ahead. Verdict: still number one, and not by accident.
Gaia Love — the modern dive platform
Eleven ensuite cabins for twenty-two guests, six of them upper-deck rooms with private balconies — rare currency on a dive boat. She runs 8-to-12-night Raja Ampat itineraries from roughly November to May, with departures already published into September 2027. We do not sell her, and we still recommend her to hard-diving couples. Verdict: the most comfortable serious dive boat in the region.
Coralia — the boutique dive boat
Eight cabins, sixteen guests, two genuine master cabins, and itineraries that pair Raja Ampat with the Banda Sea and Halmahera. Coralia is the boat experienced divers mention with a slightly protective tone, as though they would rather you did not find out. We do not sell her either. Verdict: small, serious, and worth the waitlist.
The Expedition Wildcard: Aqua Blu
Aqua Blu belongs in this list even though she is nothing like the phinisis around her: a 60-metre steel explorer yacht with fifteen suites across five decks, run by Aqua Expeditions on seven-night North and South Raja Ampat routes — including a new South Raja Ampat voyage launching in December 2026. You book her per suite, like a very small expedition ship, and she rewards travellers who want range, stability and a proper restaurant more than sails and teak. She is not bookable through us; we list her because an honest 2027 comparison is incomplete without her. Verdict: the right call for guests who prefer a ship’s certainty to a sailboat’s romance.
Whole-Vessel Charter or Per-Cabin Booking?
This is the decision that actually determines your trip, and most lists never address it. Per-cabin liveaboards — Dewi Nusantara’s scheduled departures, Gaia Love, Coralia — run fixed routes on fixed dates with strangers who become friends by the third dive. They are the right answer for couples, solo divers and photographers, and they are priced per cabin on published schedules.
Whole-vessel charters — Prana, Lamima, Amandira, Rascal, or Dewi Nusantara taken outright — flip the ownership. The itinerary bends around your group: a dawn climb at Piaynemo, an extra day among the Wayag lagoons, a village visit on Arborek timed for the school bell, pearl-farm channels at Aljui Bay for the snorkellers while divers work the Dampier Strait. From USD 4,500 per night for the entire vessel, the arithmetic starts favouring charters surprisingly quickly: once a group fills six or more berths, the gap to premium per-cabin totals narrows to less than most people assume, and everything about the trip is yours.
Booking Windows for the 2027 Season
Raja Ampat’s season runs October to April, with the calmest seas and busiest boats from December to March — which is also when the reef mantas stack up at Manta Sandy and the current-swept pinnacles of Blue Magic and Cape Kri fire at their best. For Christmas and New Year 2027 charters, nine to twelve months of lead time is normal; for Dewi Nusantara’s peak per-cabin departures, a full year is safer. Shoulder weeks in late October, November and April are the quiet intelligence play: identical reefs, softer rates, emptier anchorages.
2027 note, written 9 July 2026: Aqua Blu opens her new seven-night South Raja Ampat voyage from December 2026, Gaia Love has Raja Ampat departures published as far out as September 2027, and the whole-vessel calendars for Lamima, Prana and Amandira are already carrying holiday-week holds for December 2026 through January 2027. If a festive-season 2027 charter is on your list, this is the year to confirm it early rather than cleverly.

FAQ
What is the best Raja Ampat liveaboard?
For 2027, Dewi Nusantara is the best all-round Raja Ampat liveaboard: nine cabins on a 57-metre schooner, a full dive programme and an October-to-March season. For private whole-vessel charters, Prana by Atzaro and Lamima lead; for per-cabin dive trips, Gaia Love and Coralia are the strongest alternatives.
How much does a Raja Ampat liveaboard cost in 2027?
Whole-vessel charters arranged through Luxury Raja Ampat start from around USD 4,500 per night for the entire boat, rising through USD 8,000–12,000+ per night for flagships such as Prana by Atzaro, Lamima and Amandira. Per-cabin dive liveaboards such as Gaia Love and Coralia publish their own scheduled-departure rates.
Should I book a whole-vessel charter or a per-cabin liveaboard?
Couples, solo divers and photographers are usually happier on per-cabin dive boats with fixed schedules. Families and groups of six or more should price a whole-vessel charter first: the itinerary, dive schedule and daily rhythm become entirely yours, and the total cost is often closer to premium per-cabin bookings than expected.
When is the best time for a Raja Ampat liveaboard?
October to April is the sailing season, with December to March the peak: calm seas, peak visibility and reef mantas gathering at Manta Sandy. Late October, November and April offer the same reefs with fewer boats and softer charter rates, which is why experienced repeat guests often target the shoulder weeks.
Where do Raja Ampat liveaboards depart from?
Almost all Raja Ampat liveaboards and charters embark at Sorong, West Papua, served by Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ) with connections through Jakarta and Makassar. Vessels typically board guests at the harbour by midday and reach the first Dampier Strait anchorages, such as those near Arborek, the same afternoon.
