Raja Ampat 10-Day Private Charter Itinerary 2027 — Day-by-Day Routing

The 10-day Raja Ampat private charter itinerary is the comprehensive voyage — long enough to cover the northern Dampier-Wayag circuit and southern Misool marine reserve, with the slack required to wait for the right tide at every premium dive site rather than chase a fixed brochure schedule. This is the day-by-day routing our concierge designs most often for HNWI charter parties of 8–14 guests, with indicative pricing per vessel tier.

Why Ten Days Works Best

Shorter charters (3–7 days) force compromises. A seven-day Dampier-to-Wayag voyage covers the northern half beautifully but skips Misool’s southern marine reserve entirely. A ten-day voyage adds the overnight passage south, two full days inside Misool, and the return transit — bringing the photograph Raja Ampat is most famous for (Misool’s ancient rock-art galleries) into reach alongside Wayag’s karst summit.

At 600 nautical miles round-trip, ten days also matches the natural rhythm of a luxury phinisi at slow sailing speed — never feeling rushed, never feeling padded.

Day 1 — Sorong Embarkation & Dampier Approach

Morning private jet arrival into Sorong (SOQ) or domestic flight from Jakarta/Bali. Our concierge meets your party airside, processes customs in 15 minutes, and transfers 14km to the harbour. By 14:00 you are aboard, welcome cocktails on the sun deck while the captain briefs your weather window and itinerary preferences.

Afternoon sail east into Dampier Strait. Anchor at Mansuar by 18:00 for a sunset shakedown snorkel — checking dive gear, fitting wetsuits, settling into the vessel’s daily rhythm.

Day 2 — Dampier Strait Dive Intensive

Three dives: Cape Kri at first light (the world-record 374 fish species site), Manta Sandy mid-morning for the reef manta cleaning station at slack tide, and Blue Magic in the afternoon when the tide changes — oceanic mantas and reef sharks meet on the seamount.

Lunch onboard between dives, snorkel-only guests join Manta Sandy at the shallow end. Evening anchor at Friwen Wall for night dive option for the certified.

Day 3 — Mioskon & Sardine Reef

Morning dive at Mioskon for blacktip sharks at depth, followed by Sardine Reef for the fish-school spectacle (bigeye trevally, snapper, sweetlips stacking in current). Afternoon transit toward Kabui Bay with paddleboard / kayak deployment in the channels.

For non-divers, this is a strong day onboard — Mansuar village cultural visit available, traditional Papuan greeting, hand-craft demonstration.

Day 4 — Kabui Bay Passage & Aljui Bay

Transit the Passage Waitatabi at high water — narrow channel with limestone walls dropping to thirty metres, mangrove tunnels accessible by tender. This is the day photographers wait for: high karst light, calm water, no other vessels in sight.

Afternoon arrival at Aljui Bay. Pearl farm tour with local cultivator, Birds of Paradise spotting at dusk from a karst viewpoint, dinner served onboard at anchor under the cliffs.

Day 5 — Wayag Northern Arrival

Overnight passage northwest brings you to Wayag by sunrise. Anchor in the calm bay near Pulau Wayag Besar. Pre-breakfast climb up Mount Pindito — 335 steps to the viewpoint that delivers the photograph Raja Ampat is famous for. Limestone islets scattered across turquoise lagoons in every direction.

Return to vessel for breakfast, then paddleboard exploration of the inner lagoons, snorkel-and-swim from the sandbar, lunch at the beach with chef-prepared barbecue.

Day 6 — Wayag Eagle Rock & Karst Photography

Manta encounter at Eagle Rock cleaning station on the rising tide. Afternoon spent on kayak/paddleboard exploration through the hidden lagoons accessible only at slack water. Drone photography from the viewpoint summit during golden hour — Wayag’s most photographed angle.

Sunset anchor relocation to begin the long southbound passage. Dinner underway, then quiet night cruising.

Day 7 — Overnight Transit South to Misool

Transit day. Vessel underway from late evening (Day 6) through mid-afternoon (Day 7) — approximately 18 hours of comfortable cruising. This is your spa-and-rest day: morning yoga on the sun deck, massage treatments aboard (on Prana by Atzaró), reading in the library lounge, slow lunch.

Arrival at Misool by 16:00. First dive at Magic Mountain for an early evening shark and trevally encounter.

Day 8 — Misool Marine Reserve & Boo Windows

The famous day. Morning dive at Boo Windows — the iconic karst archway swim-through with 90% soft-coral cover. Two more dives: Nudi Rock for macro photography, Yilliet Kecil for soft-coral diversity.

Afternoon cultural visit to the rock-art gallery — handprints and human figures painted 3,000+ years ago by Papuan ancestors on overhanging karst cliffs, accessible only by dinghy with Indigenous guide arranged through our cultural liaison.

Day 9 — Misool Southern Wall & Return Transit

Morning dives at Whale Rock for soft-coral fields and Boo East for a final wall drift. Afternoon begin northbound transit toward Sorong. Last sunset anchor at a remote bay between Misool and Dampier — empty horizon, no other vessels.

Farewell dinner served on the sun deck. Captain reviews the voyage log, discusses next-time additions (Cenderawasih whale sharks, Banda Sea crossing).

Day 10 — Sorong Disembarkation

Final passage arrives at Sorong harbour by 09:00. Late breakfast, packing, farewell with crew. Ground transfer or helicopter back to SOQ for onward private jet to Singapore, Bali, or commercial connections through Jakarta.

Total voyage: approximately 600 nautical miles. Total dives: 18–22 across all sites depending on certification level. Total cultural encounters: 3 villages, 1 rock-art gallery, 1 pearl farm. Total photographs your guests will treasure: uncountable.

Indicative Pricing Per Vessel (10 Nights Full Charter)

Ten-night exclusive-use charter pricing varies significantly by vessel tier. Indicative ranges from our fleet directory:

All rates include vessel, full crew, chef-prepared meals, fuel, water sports, dive operation. Exclude: marine park fee USD 61/person, alcohol (or BYO), gratuities.

What This Itinerary Excludes (And Why)

The ten-day routing omits Cenderawasih Bay (eastern Bird’s Head, whale shark site) and Banda Sea crossing — both require 14+ nights minimum. For HNWI guests specifically interested in whale sharks or the Banda historical route, we recommend our 14-night Forgotten Islands itinerary discussed during your concierge consultation.

How To Book This Itinerary

Our Sorong-based specialists customise this base routing to your specific interests, diving certification levels, photography priorities, and seasonal weather window. Standard turnaround: three vessel options shortlisted within 24 hours, provisional hold for 72 hours. No booking fees.
