Complete North to South Itinerary 2026
14-Day Luxury
Expedition
Seven nights in Raja Ampat is excellent. Ten nights is comprehensive. But fourteen nights — that’s when you stop counting dive sites and start counting revelations. Day-by-day itinerary with 40+ dives across every major site.
The 14-day expedition is the only way to cover both North and South Raja Ampat properly, with time for Wayag (if open), Triton Bay (whale sharks, seasonal), and the unhurried pace that allows your dive guide to take you to the secret sites that don’t appear on any published itinerary. This is not a rushed checklist trip. This is the expedition that professional underwater photographers, returning Raja Ampat veterans, and once-in-a-lifetime travelers book when they want everything.
Two Versions of the Route
Choose Your Routing
North-to-South
Dampier Strait → Misool → return via overnight sail
The standard routing. Start in the Dampier Strait, work south to Misool, and return north on an overnight passage.
The default for most departures
Expedition Route
Sorong → Triton Bay → Misool → North → Sorong
Adds whale sharks but requires a 24-hour initial sailing to Triton Bay.
We recommend this for Feb-Apr departures when whale shark sighting rates exceed 85%
Fourteen Days in Seven Movements
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Days 1–2
Dampier Strait — Cape Kri & Blue Magic
Board vessel in Sorong, sail to Dampier Strait (4 hours). Afternoon check dive at Sardine Reef. Day 2: dawn dive at Cape Kri (374 species world record site), mid-morning at Blue Magic seamount (oceanic mantas), afternoon at Mios Kun (coral garden, turtles). Night dive at Cape Kri (walking sharks, Spanish dancers).
Days 3–4
Manta Sandy & Arborek
Dawn dive at Manta Sandy (manta cleaning station, 90%+ sighting rate). Afternoon snorkeling at Arborek Jetty + village visit. Day 4: second Manta Sandy dive (different current, different manta behavior), Mike’s Point (grey reef sharks), sunset bird of paradise trek on Waigeo.
Days 5–6
Wayag & Fam Islands
Day-long sail north to Wayag (if open). Sunrise viewpoint climb, lagoon snorkeling and kayaking. Day 6: sail south through Fam Islands — Melissa’s Garden (pristine coral), Piaynemo sunset viewpoint, Star Lagoon snorkeling. If Wayag is closed, extra days at Fam Islands and northern dive sites.
Days 7–8
Transit to Misool
Overnight sail south from Dampier Strait to Misool (10-12 hours). Day 7 is a rest/sail day — read on deck, watch islands pass, afternoon yoga session. Arrive Misool evening. Day 8: dawn dive at Boo Windows (coral swim-throughs, wobbegong sharks), Magic Mountain (manta cleaning station), afternoon at Fiabacet (densest soft coral wall in Raja Ampat). Night dive at Nudi Rock (30+ nudibranch species).
Days 9–10
Deep Misool Exploration
Sites most liveaboards never reach: Wayilbatan walls (untouched by any other vessel), hidden karst lagoons accessible only by tender, ancient cave paintings on limestone cliffs. Day 10: final Misool dives — your pick from Magic Mountain, Boo Windows, or the guide’s secret macro site. Kayaking through Misool’s lagoon maze. Beach BBQ on uninhabited island.
Days 11–12
Return North via Penemu
Sail north with stops at Penemu lagoon (hidden bay, juvenile sharks, snorkeling paradise). Day 12: final Cape Kri dive (your fourth visit — by now the reef feels like home), farewell Manta Sandy dive, sunset from the upper deck.
Days 13–14
Final Dives & Departure
Day 13: morning dive at diver’s choice (most pick Cape Kri or Manta Sandy for "one more"), afternoon pack and rest, farewell dinner on deck with crew performance. Day 14: sunrise from the vessel, sail to Sorong, disembark by noon for afternoon flights.

Expedition Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 14 days too long?
No. In fact, 14 days is when the trip peaks. Days 1-3 you’re adjusting. Days 4-10 you’re in peak diving rhythm. Days 11-14 you’re revisiting favorites with better skills and appreciation.
Can I do 14 days with mixed abilities?
Absolutely. We run split groups: advanced divers go deep while beginners and snorkelers explore shallows. The longer trip gives more time for Discover Scuba courses.
How many total dives?
40-50 dives over 14 days (3-4 per day including night dives). Some guests do 55+ with dawn bonus dives.
Can I add Triton Bay whale sharks?
Yes. Replace Days 7-10 with Triton Bay route (Feb-Apr only). Adds 24-hour initial sailing but includes whale shark encounters.
What about non-diving days?
2-3 "lighter" days built in for transits, viewpoints, village visits, and rest. The itinerary balances intensity with recovery.
